Thank you for visiting our Soccer Field Renovation Project information page, we are excited that you are interested in helping us improve our existing facilities. The Burke Soccer field is one of only three current Varsity game fields that is natural grass; every other school has access to playing on a more modern synthetic playing surface with the use of their football stadiums. Unfortunately, here at Burke, we are not allowed to play soccer games in our football stadium due to the size of the track around the outside forcing the actual turfed area to be about five yards too narrow to play a game. The track and the field inside the football stadium is set to be updated within the next two summers, but the plans are void of widening the field due to the need to host the State Track meet. This leaves all 6 of our soccer teams having to continue to play their games on an out-dated, worn down, over-used, seldom cared-for natural grass field. It is for these reasons (and many others) that we have decided to kick-off a fundraising campaign to improve our facilities on the soccer field. The field itself will become multi-purpose in that it will play host to not only Boys and Girls Soccer, but also to Marching Band and Lacrosse. The project is estimated to cost between 2 and 3 million dollars and must be paid for through private donations. Below you will find pictures of the current field as well as of the plans to improve. In addition, there will be links at the bottom of the page to where you can read more information about this project and/or donate to this campaign.
